VA Abingdon Little League fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-8 loss to NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League on Sunday. NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League scored on a home run by Tyler Sellers in the first inning.

Despite the loss, VA Abingdon Little League did collect five hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League had 13 hits on the way to victory.

NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League opened up scoring in the first inning. Sellers drove in three when he homered.

VA Abingdon Little League tallied three runs in the seventh inning. Jadon Boothe had an RBI home run in the inning to lead the run scoring.

NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League scored three runs in the third inning. The big inning for NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League came thanks to a groundout by Ben Cipriano and an error on a ball put in play by Matt Hoover.

Matt Calvello earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League. He went five innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out five. Noah Gibsonand Cole Hart entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.Hart recorded the last two outs to earn the save for NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League.

Brant Boggs took the loss for VA Abingdon Little League. He surrendered four runs on one hit over two innings.

VA Abingdon Little League launched one home run on the day. Boothe had a homer in the seventh inning.

Luke Francisco, Boggs, Boothe, Alex Odle, and Caleb Collins each managed one hit to lead VA Abingdon Little League.

NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League tallied 13 hits on the day. Sellers, Jacob Brooks, Calvello, and Abraham Williams all managed multiple hits for NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League.Sellers went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead NC Coulwood-Oakdale Little League in hits.
