VA Abingdon Little League defeated GA Martinez-Evans Little League 4-1 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at one with VA Abingdon Little Leaguebatting in the bottom of the fifth when Jake Thacker singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
GA Martinez-Evans Little League got on the board in the second inning when Aaron Skinner hit a solo homer.
Luke Francisco was the winning pitcher for VA Abingdon Little League. He went six and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on four hits and striking out six. Caleb Collins threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Collins recorded the last out to earn the save for VA Abingdon Little League.
Skinner took the loss for GA Martinez-Evans Little League. He lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out four.
Francisco, Brant Boggs, Thacker, Chase Hungate, Jadon Boothe, Will Jennings, and Grayson Waddle each managed one hit to lead VA Abingdon Little League. VA Abingdon Little Leaguedidn’t commit a single error in the field. Jonas Lane had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
